What do cars, weekends, and time all have in common?
They all tend to be in a rush and pass by so quickly a majority of the time.
At times, I feel as though everything and everyone is running around like frantic little children. I distinctly remember last year, as a freshman in college with several classes, rushing from work to dinner and off to business meetings. Even though I was having the time of my life, enjoying campus activities, making new friendships, and getting to choose the topics I wanted to learn about, I still felt like one of those anxious children trying to get from place to place. Each day felt like a race.
This year I have been focusing on being still and not rushing from place to place. I’ve been working on slowing things down and living more in the present. Rather than looking to the future constantly, thinking about what’s next to do. I encourage you to do the same for yourself.
When we rush we miss what is taking place right in front of us. Take time to be fully engaged when talking to the person next to you. I was told, while we are in conversations, naturally, we are already planning on how we are gong to reply to somone else’s statement before they have even finished what they are saying. Interesting, but sadly true. I am guilty of this myself. We get so consumed with our own thoughts that we don’t even try to listen to one another.
I greatly appreciate you for reading my blog post! Feel free to leave me a comment below on your thoughts.
Also, if you picked up on the title, it was inspired by Selena Gomez’s ‘Slow Down’ song lyrics, props to you!
