Finding Confidence || Finding You Series

Where do you find confidence? Are you confident? How do you know if you have it or not?

I asked my readers one question, “What makes YOU feel confident?” on @findingyouseries on Instagram and I received quite a bit of feedback from many of you. I know this can be a hard question for lots of us to answer, as Patricia agrees on, “It’s a bit hard question for me because I don’t have a lot of confidence. Seems odd as I’m doing this whole blogging thing but it doesn’t come easy for me to put myself out there. So I guess feeling loved, accepted and like I belong gives me confidence” – Patricia @roscapatricia

It doesn’t matter what position we have or title we’ve earned, we are still all the same as humans. I believe we should not limit ourselves and opportunities if we don’t feel qualified. Let God be the judge of that. I love what Airriaunte had to say about how when she feels most confident is “knowing that I am enough in God’s eyes! No matter what people may think of me, my worth is in the depth of Jesus’ love for me” – Airriaunte Mercer @coffeewithtae

Confidence comes from within, right? Yes, but it is from where/who you find your value in. I strongly believe who you surround yourself with is who you become. Your values, attitude, and actions can all be influenced by who you are around, whether you feel you are in control of it or not. I wrote a blog post more about this here.

If you surround yourself with people who appreciate you for being you and bring out your best features it can be a total confidence booster. “I feel most confident when I’m around people I love and who make me laugh. My brother makes me feel confident because we laugh so much together and can look absolutely awful but still feel incredible. I think laughter and a smile is my confidence booster” – Madison @theclassicmadison

For myself, I feel most confident when I am being unregrettably myself and not concerned with what other people think about me.“For me confidence comes from knowing myself well enough to be proud of the person I am and also the person I am becoming” – Emily Buchans @emily_buchans Whether that is dressing up one day or down on another and just breaking out some dance moves to my latest jams. “Wearing something bold. Being myself” – Sarah Beth @sarahbeth_style

Also, I know that my value is found in God and not in my likes on Instagram. I feel confidence has to do with where you are going. I can put my trust in God and know that I can be fully confident in His plan for my life. As Lianna shares, “knowing that God has me in the right place & at the right time in my life, even when it seems like I do not know what I am doing in my current season.” – Lianna @thebeautifulpurpose

Our appearance can be a huge factor into our confidence level, whether we like to admit it or not, it is. “I feel confident when I’m wearing an outfit that I feel comfortable in!” – Cassidy @brainsandbronzed However, one way to boost your confidence no matter what outfit you are wearing Emily shares with us, “walking with confidence, shoulders back, head held up instead of staring at ground, and a calm pace. This really helps in situations where I’m a little unsure of myself. Walking with confidence just sends a message to the rest of your body that says, “hey, you got this”.” – Emily Buchans @emily_buchans.

As a reminder we all go through those moments when we don’t know what to think or can be unsure of ourselves. It is important to remember that it is okay to have indecisive moments, we are not perfect after all. We don’t have to have everything put together all of the time. I even have to remind myself of this quite often, since I am a perfectionist.

Thank you to these wonderful ladies for sharing their thoughts with me and hearts with all of us! Be sure to check out their lovely pages and give them each a follow.

Yes! I love this. Confidence looks different ways in different seasons but ultimately it is finding purpose. I know that I am found in Christ and through that I’m able to interact with the world in confidence!
