God Deserves the Biggest Tip of All

Recently, on my trip to Minneapolis for the weekend, my mom and I stopped at a restaurant for dinner. We greatly enjoyed our time and the attentiveness of our waiter that I wanted to give a generous tip to an amazing waiter. As I was digging through my purse a thought had hit me – “why don’t I search that hard on Sundays for my church offering?”  That thought honestly took me back as I envisioned myself sitting in my usual pew looking into my purse with no cash available.

Like a waiter who does their job well and goes above and beyond their duties, God goes beyond blessing each of us every single day. At this point it had clearly hit me to be more generous towards my offering at church, because God deserves the biggest tip of all. Thank you to our waiter for being a generous server and unknowingly allowing God to use him to teach me something important.

Think about all of the things God constantly does for you. What are they? I have lost count of how many things He does for me. His love is so deep for each one of us. I think we can each be more appreciative for all of the little things, not just the big things God blesses us with.

Comment below one thing you are thankful for that God has given you. I cannot wait to read your responses!

The same principle – we often give the people we care about the most, the worst versions of ourselves because they’ll be there for it all. But what we should be doing is giving them our best! It’s why I think God tells us to give to HIM first, because otherwise, we’ll forget…

Yes! I love what Abi added! The Lord is so gracious and it is a joy to give Him our first fruits in response! There are plenty of ways to give back to the Lord too!

What a great point! Lately I’ve been trying to see all the ways that I see God’s hand in my life, and the fact that I’m actually taking the time to look for it means that I’m actually able to see it much more clearly now. The last thing I noticed was that I’d been praying that the talk I was asked to give in church would help someone listening, and right after I gave it, I had people email/text/call me and tell me what it had meant to them, and I know for a fact that I was inspired multiple times while giving it to share certain details or scriptures or change the direction slightly from planned…it’s so amazing how He’s so involved, even in the littlest details!

Thank you, Torrie! Aw, that is amazing! I am so glad you were open to allowing God to move through your speech, it truly helped out others! I love when God gets involved in every little detail, especially since I’m a detail oriented person, it means the most to me when He does. Thanks for sharing your story!

This is such a great reminder! I’m working on being grateful for the little things. I like to write them down each day and review them at night before going to bed. It’s a great way to reset and refocus my priorities.

That is awesome! It does take lots of work to remind yourself everyday. Thanks for reading!

What an awesome connection you made between something so simple and something profound! God truly does deserve our first fruits. He does so much for us that we will never realize, such as protecting us from things and people that would harm us. Giving to God helps us put our reliance in Him in our lives more, and builds that trust too. I’m so thankful I came hear to read this today! 🙂
