How to Further Develop Your Relationship with Christ + Recommended Christian Books

There is such a difference between being a Christian who is living to find what you can get out of the world, verses seeking to bring glory to God through your everyday life. Something that played a key role in directing me to make that change was reading thought-provoking Christian-based books.

I’ve never considered myself as someone who enjoys reading. However, once I found books that were benefiting my lifestyle and were Christ-seeking and God-honoring I became interested. When reading about someone else’s experiences, wisdom, and lessons they have learned, it can really help develop wisdom in you and strengthen your character.

I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend reading good Christian-based books that will help you grow as an individual. I’ve especially enjoyed books that focus on identity and putting your trust in God and seeking His plan for your life. .

I want to share with you some of my specially selected Christian books that have helped me grow and seek a deeper relationship with Christ in a new way.

  • Shaken by Tim Tebow

Have you ever questioned your identity or asked yourself ‘who you are’? (Let’s be real, we all have) Well, this inspirational book is a shaker and a mover as Tim Tebow walks you through on defining your identity, in a world that tries to tell you who you are, by openly sharing about his highest and lowest moments from his life. Also, it was super exciting getting to hear him speak about his book LIVE on Super Bowl Sunday earlier this year!

  • Jesus Today by Sara Young

I am sure many of you have heard of the book ‘Jesus Calling’, well this devotional also written by Sara Young is a must. She wrote Jesus Today while she was in her darkest time of life, which may sound strange because this devotional is SO ENCOURAGING!

  • Praying for Your Future Husband by Robin Jones Gunn & Tricia Goyer

It is never too early or too late to start praying for your future husband. The idea to begin praying for your future husband, and being consistent at it, came to me about a year ago. I realized that God is at work before you will even meet the one you will spend the rest of your life with. I think it may surprise some of you to know when you pray for someone else, your faith will grow as well. You can be preparing your heart and shaping your character before you even meet the one. Robin and Tricia do a wonderful job at sharing their stories and providing key qualities to be praying for your future husband in this book. (Also, does the name Robin Jones Gunn ring a bell? She also wrote the well-known Christy Miller series! My fav series from my middle school days.)

  • Christy Miller Series

This series is for my younger girls out there! I grew up reading this series myself and loved it. It is honestly such an intriguing book. You will not want to put it down.

  • Holy Bible (obviously, not to discredit)

As Christian books are great, nothing compares to the Word of God! These past few months I’ve been reading a chapter a day from Proverbs and/or Psalms. I encourage you to do the same or pick another book from the Bible that intrigues you and start reading.

In addition to reading these books, I also kept a prayer journal and wrote down my prayers daily, or from time-to-time. I’ve heard so many stories about women who have also used prayer journals and years later have looked back and have seen how God was working in their lives then and has developed them to where they are now.

Comment below what are ways you’ve been staying in the Word and building up your relationship with God. I’d love to make the comments section a encouraging place for everyone to learn and gain from! Feel free to share any additional Christian books that you have found helpful as well. I am always looking to discover more good reads!

Also, if you are interested in reading more from my Finding You Series you may want to read on God’s love and confidence.
