From competing in the National American Miss Minnesota State Pageant for four years now, I can proudly say that I’ve learned and grown a lot as an individual. I’ve grown in my confidence, character, poise, and strength. There are a number of things I’ve taken away from being in pageants. I decided to share some of the most influential lessons that I have learned with you.
-
In order to achieve your dreams you need to believe in them more than anyone else or no one will believe you.
-
Know the inner you.
-
Be bold, confident, and authentic.
-
Be prepared and plan ahead to avoid stress.
-
In order to stand out amongst the crowd you must not be afraid to speak up and express yourself.
-
“I look good!” Shoutout to all of my NAM girls! This was the first thing they told us to say loud and proud.
-
Don’t compare yourself to others, you’re only competing with your past self.
-
Strutting in heels is fun and a good workout.
-
You can do this! After I would walk off stage and out of each competition I would be like “wow, ya I just did that”.
-
Practice, practice, practice! Practice doesn’t mean you’re weak, it makes you stronger.
-
You will meet some of the most determined, passionate, and talented women and they will be your friends.
-
Never settle for just any dress.
-
Use your platform and voice to be a positive role model.
-
Surround yourself with those who fully believe in you and support your goals.
-
Try new things and get involved.
-
Capture and live in every moment because the experience is a once in a lifetime opportunity!
I had an unforgettable weekend competing for my final year at the National American Miss Minnesota Teen 2016 State Pageant! I placed Top 10 Overall Finalist, Miss Spirit 1st Runner-Up, and Top Model Runner-Up! I met so many amazing and talented women, I am proud to call them my friends.
