My Makeup Routine Favorites

My Makeup Routine Favorites

As I constantly try out new makeup looks and play around with a variety of products, I find it to be similar with the process of finding our true selves. I think we like to each test out different “faces” if you will and see what “fits” or “looks best” on us. Ultimately we were made whole through Jesus and all we will ever need is God’s filter on our lives. As long as we realize that our value is found in Christ alone and we are made beautiful through Him already. No amount of makeup can change or increase our value on the inside or outside.

“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.” – Proverbs 31:30

However, I believe there is nothing wrong with having some fun with makeup! God also gave me passions, and one of those is creativity! If you haven’t guess by now, I greatly enjoy being creative through my makeup.

On that note…

Today, I am sharing some of my makeup routine favorites with you! I LOVE trying out new brands, products, and shades of makeup. I definitely consider doing makeup as a hobby of mine and I see it as a form of art. I tend to wear more natural looks that enhance my God-given features, even when I do a full face.

After foundation, concealer, and powder comes the fun stuff… well, not that those are not fun, but let’s play around with some color!

CHEEKS

Starting off with CHEEKS I like to use three quick & easy products.

I most often will start with bronzer and apply it in a motion known as the 3-E effect. I recently tried out Butter Bronzer by Physicians Formula in the light shade and have been enjoying it on my fair skin tone.

Next, I reach for my blush while using the same Real Techniques brush as I applied my bronzer with. I value the 2-in-1 application as it eliminates one extra step. The most recent blush I have been using is by Tarte, their Amazonian Clay blush in the shade, paaarty.

As for the last step on my cheeks, I will sometimes apply highlighter.

Personally, I like to apply highlighter year round, but I feel it tends to appear more natural during the summer months, which I prefer. I have been using the Benefit Watt’s Up highlighter for awhile now (so glad I received this as a birthday freebie). I apply it to the top of my cheek bones, under the arch of my eyebrow, and then sometimes on the tip of my nose and/or cupid’s bow(above my upper lip).

EYES

I am all about the EYES. This is where I tend to spend the most time on my makeup as it is enhancing a key feature.

My eyebrows were already done in these photos, but it is important to realize the difference they make by having them done as they help frame your face. I enjoy using the Anastasia Brow Definer in soft brown as my go-to for my brows.

Next up, the eyeshadow is where I like to have my most fun!

There is such a variety of looks you can create with eyeshadow, but my latest go-to has been between two different palettes. The one that is featured in these photos is by NYX. I blend together a medium nude on my entire lid with a darker mauve-brown into my outer crease, then lightly add a soft orange shade over the lid for a pop of color to bring the look to life. After, I add my favorite eyeshadow highlight (the lightest shade from the Covergirl Shimmering Sands trio palette) on my brow bone in the arch and inner crease of my eyes. I have been loving to apply this eyeshadow highlight for years, no joke.

Now onto the eyelashes…

Last for my eyes, I of course curl my eyelashes and apply my treasured, must-have mascara, which has been the Maybelline Rocket Volume Express mascara in Blackest Black. Lately, I have been applying a few more coats than normal and have found it to really help my overall look come together.

LIPS

We cannot forget about the LIPS.

My go-to lip products has been the Covergirl Lipslick in the shade txtme, haha yep you read that right. If I want a longer lasting product, I will opt for one of my higher end lipsticks.

FINISH

To FINISH off my look, making sure to set it is crucial.

I use the NYX Matte Setting Spray. Just a few quick squirts and I am all good to go!

After my makeup routine, I curled my hair with my hair straightener. Then sprayed in some hairspray to hold my curls. I LOVE these fun, bouncy curls.

and….VOILA! That’s how I achieved my completed look for today!
