The Night Before Thanksgiving

The Night Before Thanksgiving

I am writing this while smelling a sweet pumpkin candle and watching the last few seconds of the Gossip Girl Thanksgiving Day episode from season one; this is my night before Thanksgiving.

Every year when this season rolls around it is the time when I tend to become more aware of all of the many blessings God has given me. I think that is common for most of us as this time is known as the thankful holiday. One tradition that has carried through the years at my family’s Thanksgiving Day table is to go around and share one thing you are thankful for. We keep going around and around the table until we have elaborated on our blessings that it turns into a treasured story time leading to cheerful laughter.

I think one thing we can each do is learn to be grateful all year round, not just during this season. God fills us with so many blessings all year, every day (whether we see it or not) so giving thanks to Him for all and recognizing that He is the source of all of our gifts is one thing we can do to be more appreciative. In Psalms 9:1 it says, “I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds.”

What are you thankful for this year? How can you remember to give thanks to God, our Maker, all year round? Comment below, I’d love to hear from you!

For the rest of this evening, I will be helping prepare the festivities for the meal tomorrow while listening to my Spotify tracks. For this holiday weekend I’ve decided to attempt to watch every Thanksgiving episode from Gossip Girl and Gilmore Girls. This is one of the little things I am thankful for. Read my Thanksgiving post from last year on being thankful for every little thing.
